Why is the app counting total orders instead of actual prints towards the plan limit?

GST Pro counts total Shopify orders, not individual print or download actions, because the app processes every order in the Shopify order sequence for tax calculation, reporting, and compliance. The plan limit is based on order numbers, not how many times you click "Print".

Most Common Root Cause

Plan limits are based on Shopify order sequence, not print actions

GST Pro determines eligibility using the order number you are trying to print, not how many invoices you have printed so far.

  • If your plan allows 50 orders
  • And you try to print the 51st order of the month
  • The app will block printing even if you never printed the earlier ones

This behavior is intentional and consistent across plans.

Other Possible Causes

  • On the Free plan, only the first 50 orders of the month are printable
  • Attempting to print order #51 or later triggers a limit error
  • If your store exceeded a plan's order limit in the previous month
  • Lower-tier plans may be automatically disabled for the current month
  • Test orders created in Shopify
  • Orders imported during store migration

Are all counted as valid orders and consume the plan limit

Why This Happens

GST Pro is not just a "PDF printer". For every order, the app:

  • Calculates GST
  • Syncs tax data
  • Prepares reporting data (such as GSTR-1)
  • Maintains order-level compliance records

Because the app must process every transaction, each Shopify order consumes system resources even if you never print its invoice. That's why limits are based on order volume, not print clicks.

How We Typically Resolve This

1

Match your plan to your actual order volume

  • Support usually recommends upgrading to a plan that matches your monthly Shopify orders:
Startup → up to 300 orders
Business → up to 2,500 orders
Advanced → unlimited orders
2

Print early-sequence orders (Free plan users)

  • On the Free plan, invoices for the first 50 orders of the month remain printable
  • These can be reprinted unlimited times
3

Manual review in rare cases

  • For unusual scenarios (migration issues, technical glitches)
  • Support may:
Investigate the order history
Manually resync data
This usually requires collaborator access

Important Shopify & Data Dependencies

  • GST Pro relies entirely on the Shopify Order API

  • Order numbers and sequence are controlled by Shopify

  • The app cannot skip or exclude:

    Cancelled orders
    Test orders
    Unfulfilled orders
  • Any order assigned a Shopify order number is counted

What This Will NOT Change

  • Print limits will not reset by avoiding downloads
  • Orders cannot be excluded from counting
  • Cancelled or test orders cannot be skipped
  • Printing fewer invoices does not reduce order usage
